The Suffixation Process of “复” in Chinese in Northern and Southern Dynasties,Sui and Tang Dynasties and Its Related Problems

"复"是中古时期产生的一个词尾,词尾"复"是在与"又"同义连用共同做状语的句法环境中产生的,"又复"高频共现、逐步凝合,在发展过程中"又"吞噬了"复"的语法功能,"复"意义脱落虚化为词尾。"又""复"同义连用时,它们的语法功能的不同,决定了在排列顺序上"复"位于"又"之后,"复"的后置性是其虚化为副词词尾的一个重要因素。

＂复＂, a suffix appeared in Chinese in Northern and Southern Dynasties, Sui and Tang Dynas- ties, was developed synonymously with ＂又＂ and used together with ＂又＂ as adverbs. The two words always come together frequently, but as used for a long time, ＂又＂ gradually covered the grammatical function of ＂复＂, making＂ 复＂ a suffix. ＂复＂ and＂又＂ are combined but different grammatical functions of the two words make ＂复＂ come after＂ 又＂, which reduces it to be merely a suffix.
