高校非英语专业开设《英语国家概况》课程的方法探索——以天津体育学院为例

An Exploration Research on Initiating the Course "Introduction to English-Speaking Countries" for Non-English Majors—Taking Tianjin University of Sport as an Example

为适应大学英语教学改革中对提高学生文化意识的要求,探索将文化教学引入语言教学的有效途径,《英语国家概况》课程在非英语专业学生中的开设是很有必要的。与此同时,在课程的实施过程中我们也必须针对非英语专业学生的特点和要求做出适当的调整,真正实现语言学习与文化学习的融合,最终达到提高学生跨文化交际能力的目的。

College English teaching reform puts emphasis on improving students＇ cultural consciousness. It is neces- sary to introduce cultural teaching into language teaching. One of the effective ways is to initiate the course ＂Introduction to English-speaking Countries＂ for non-English majors. During the teaching of this course,we must make some adjustment according to the characteristics of non-English majors in order to combine language learning and cultural learning and finally achieve the purpose of improving students＇ cross-cultural communication.
