摘要
英国当代剧作家汤姆·斯托帕的成名作《罗森克兰茨与吉尔德斯特恩已死》是对莎士比亚名剧《哈姆雷特》的改写,剧本通过两个从舞台边缘走到聚光灯下的小人物的死亡悲剧,颠覆了哈姆雷特人文主义英雄形象这一"中心",揭示了历史如何以英雄之名对普通人施加的权力控制,暗喻了战后英国一代青年人的"边缘感",折射出二战后英国的"英雄帝国"形象及其精神气质从中心走向边缘的衰落过程。
"Rosencrantz And Guildenstern Are Dead"which is British playwright Tom Stoppard's first and famous play is a rewrite of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Through the two characters'death ,this play subverts the center which Hamlet as a humanistic hero, reveals how history controls ordinary people by the great ones, points out the "marginal sense" in the British young generation after the World War Ⅱ,shows that the British images and spirits are going to decline from the peak.
