Due to the close anatomical and functional relationship between the liver and the intestine, intestinal microfh)ra, interact with liver function through the liver-intestinal axis. It plays an important role in the development of the liver inflammation, fibrosis and tumor. Intestinal microflora disorders promote the progress of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which is an international breakthrough in the pathogenesis of HCC in experimental animals. Key feature strains of the intestinal microflora may become new biomarkers and therapeutic targets of HCC. With the development of the second generation high throughput sequencing technology, the research of metagenomics has opened up a new way for us to understand the relationship between intestinal microflora and HCC from the great depth and breadth.
