概念隐喻视角下的《黄帝内经》隐喻英译策略初探

A Brief Study on Metaphor Translation Strategies in "Yellow Emperor's Canon of Internal Medicine" from the Perspective of Conceptual Metaphor

从概念隐喻的视角探讨了《黄帝内经》中隐喻英译策略选择问题,认为在认知语言学家Schaffner提出的3个隐喻翻译策略——替代,释意,省略中,替代最为常见,这主要是由于译者出于传播中医隐喻思维模式角度的考虑。而释意策略的使用主要出现在由于中西方文化差异,中医隐喻不可能得到解释的情况下。相比于前两种策略,省略在《内经》隐喻翻译中极为少见。

This paper discussed the strategy selection in metaphor translation in Yellow Emperor＇s Canon of Internal Medicine from the perspective of conceptual metaphor. It holds that among the three metaphor translation strategies -substitution, interpretation as well as ellipsis- put forward by cognitive linguists Schaffner, substitution is the most common which is mainly due to the translators＂ purpose of transmission of metaphorical thinking mode of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Interpretation is mainly used when metaphors in Traditional Chinese Medicine cannot be explained because of Chinese and western cultural differences. Compared with the former two strategies, ellipsis is rare in ＂Nei Jing＂ metaphor translation.
