Notes on City:(no.28):Architect Zhang Jiajing and His School Project

从2010年到2016年,上海高目建筑设计有限公司的主持建筑师张佳晶一直在为嘉定新城德富中学的设计进行着各种抗辩。在一个原本可以循规蹈矩的普通教育项目中,张佳晶一心想要打造一处好玩儿的初中校园,结果,使得该项目从报批到施工都遇到了重重困难。本次访谈记述了张佳晶碰壁再战的过程。这样的故事折射着当下建筑实践寻常与不寻常的工作状态。

From 2010 to 2016, Zhang Jiajing, the chief architect of Atelier GOM Architecture, has been busy on defending their design for an ordinary middle school project in the suburban Jiading New Town of Shanghai. Sparing no effort, Zhang Jiajing tried his best for creating an enjoyable and playful campus for the students. The fights and frustrations recounted in this interview portrait a real life story of an architect with perseverance and ideal, which is truly an epitome of contemporary Chinese architectural practices.
