Research on Senior Officials' Principles for Preserving Themselves in the Spring and Autumn Period

春秋时代的卿大夫对个人命运怀有强烈的忧患意识,守身自保在他们的言论中占有重要位置。这种现象是传统的血缘宗法制度已被破坏、政治局势动荡所造成的结果。在明哲保身思想的影响下,卿大夫将守礼视为保身之道,提高了"礼"的地位,为儒家学派的发展创造了条件。

During the Spring and Autumn period,the senior officials had strong sense of anxiety and uncertainty about their prospect,so playing safe is a key principle in their public speech or a private talk,which attributes to the destroyed patriarchal system and the political turbulence at that time. With the principle in mind,the senior officials regard rituals as an effective way to preserve themselves,which helps improve the status of rituals and paves the way for development of Confucianism.
