In multi-cultural society,it has become a core issue for American faculty development to promote faculty development and to improve the quality of higher education. In the perspective of multi-cultural values and by adopting the research method of historical comparison,the paper analyses the changes of American faculty development concepts,further discusses the relation between economical resources,types of development and university culture,and based on these explores its development prospects as diversity,openness and entirety. This is not only beneficial to the comprehensive understanding on the core values of American faculty development,but also important for the faculty development of China.
