本研究通过对宾语为heart和head的致使移动构式句(如:John laughed his head off.)
A concrete sentence instantiating a schematic construction may itself develop into another schematic construction by inviting different elements to it. Our investigation into English caused-motion constructional sentences with Heart and Head as their objects( e. g. John laughed his head off.) has proved this point. These two subordinate constructions with object nouns as constants have boosted their abstraction and productivity by resolving related mismatches with metaphor and metonymy. Synchronically, their unique extension and expansion show the complexity of a productive construction's inheritance networks, and diachronically, reveal their constructional changes and constructionalization.
