摘要
隐喻是一种特殊的语言修辞手段,也是人类重要的认知方式。政治文本中恰当运用隐喻,能彰显语言的传播效果。本文以《毛泽东选集》中的科技词汇为例,探讨隐喻性科技词汇在政治语篇中的英译,指出在处理隐喻性科技词汇的翻译时,译者应根据具体语境和译文读者的认知能力,准确传递科技词汇的内涵。
Metaphor is not only a special linguistic figure of speech,but also an important cognitive approach.The communicating effects of language will be underscored by appropriately applying metaphor into essays of political nature. This paper analyzes the metaphorical translation of sci-tech vocabulary in political essays with the examples taken from Selected Works of Mao Tse-tung. The paper further points out that the translator should accurately transmit the connotation of sci-tech vocabulary according to the specific context and the cognitive competence of target readers when he deals with the rendering of the metaphorical transfer of scientific and technical vocabulary.
