Khedrup Je's Contribution for the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism and His Historical Status

克珠杰是藏传佛教格鲁派创始人宗喀巴大师的心传弟子,是藏传佛教格鲁派兴起时期的重要人物之一。作为宗喀巴的心传弟子,参与了格鲁派创建前后的一系列宗教和社会活动,他大力弘传宗喀巴的宗教思想,修建寺院,培养后学,并且亲自主持修建了白居寺,还担任了第三任甘丹赤巴。作为一代高僧,他积极传播格鲁派教法,巩固和发展了格鲁派的势力,为格鲁派的发展做出了重大的贡献,后世追封他为第一世班禅额尔德尼。

Khedrup Je is the heart disciple of Lama Tsongkhapa who is founder＂ of the Gelug Sect of Ti- betan Buddhism ; meanwhile, he is also an important figure of the Gelug Sect of Tibetan Buddhism in the rise period. He involved in a series of religious and social activities, and vigorously advertised Tsongkhapa＇s religious thought through building monasteries, training Buddhist monks, and personally presiding over the Baiju monastery as the third GandenTripa. Because he made a significant contribution to the development of the Gelug sect, he was named as the first Panchen Lama by the Tibetan Buddhism.
