Starting from Oedipus Rex who imposed self-exile after piercing his own eyes blind,＂eye-piercing＂has been a means of pursuing truth in the history of human reflections. Since then,＂eye-piercing＂has been displayed as extremely brutal manifestations in different tragic narratives that convey tragic characters＇ worship for the eternal truth and absolute ethical value,and reflect the dominance of personal will over the flesh with strong tragic aesthetics.
