旅游英语是以英语为媒介、以旅游知识和导游技能为核心的一种专门用途英语。高职院校英语专业的旅游英语学科教学目的是使学习者掌握关于旅游的专业术语、了解旅游景点的人文知识、传达独特的文化内涵,在提高学习者的英语综合运用能力的基础上,培养应用型人才。旅游英语教学中人文素养至关重要,它不但是旅游英语所要学习的知识,也是确保中西两种文化正常交流的基石,是培养多元化英语人才的必备条件。

English for Tourism is a kind of English for specific purpose focusing on traveling knowledge and tour guide skills.For English majors,the objective of tourism English instruction is to forge applied talents by endowing students with tourism terms and the humanities in the tourist attractions as well as conveying typical cultural message. As an essential component of talents of diversified skills,liberal education plays an important role in tourism English instruction in that it is not only a constituent in English for tourism but also a convoy of communication between Chinese culture and western culture.
