李白凤1940年代的创作追求"真"的纪述,它包含现实的真实和单纯的"我"的真实。在"真"的纪述观念下,李白凤在长诗《英雄的梦》中书写了他从军过程中的怀乡之情和所遭遇的苦难,同时也抒发了在抗战与自由之间的矛盾之情,这凸显了李白凤在大我和小我的夹缝中艰难游走的矛盾心情。从这个意义上说,《英雄的梦》具有重要价值,对研究知识分子的心理具有标本的意义。
