19世纪中后叶的潮汕方言音系——以三种美国传教士的著作为据

On the Phonetic Systems of Chaoshan Dialects in the Mid-Late 19^(th) Century

本文根据19世纪中后叶的三种美国传教士编撰的潮汕方言著作讨论当时的潮汕方言音系。全文分为五个部分:一、三种著作简介;二、声母系统比较;三、韵母系统比较;四、这些著作的音系性质;五、声调系统比较。笔者认为,这些著作均非汕头或潮州单一的方言音系,而是以潮汕地区方言为基础,吸收潮州、海丰、揭阳、潮阳、汕头、澄海等方言韵类的综合音系。

The paper studies the phonetic systems of Chaoshan dialects as was recorded in three books compiled by American missionaries in the mid-late 19^th century. It includes five sections, i.e. a brief introduction of these books and four sets of comparisons, concerning initial systems, final systems, phonological systems, and tone systems, respectively. The paper argues that all the phonetic systems of the books are by no means unitary. comprehensive systems of Chaozhou, Haifeng, Jieyang, Chaoyang, Shantou and dialects instead. They are Chenghai
