The No. 27 piano sonata of Beethoven is a typical one created in his later years. Affected by the adverse and complicated social circumstance and his personal emotions, Beethoven was very lonely and miserable during that period. Therefore, loneliness, sorrow and despair filled the sonata. On the other hand, his conviction in republic and his sympathy towards democracy filled the sonata with complicated emotions and rich musical connotations. Compared with his other piano sonatas, this piano sonata is marked by striking emotional contrast resulted from the clashes between his ideal and the reality as well as between sense and sensibility. While playing the sonata, it is necessary for pianists to pay attention to the details, especially the emotional aspects, the strength and the flexibility.
