摘要
斯诺普斯三部曲对转型期美国南方人的身份转型进行了艺术探寻。作品呈现出两类反差鲜明的身份转型者,一类以弗莱姆等斯诺普斯为代表,另一类以拉特利夫和华尔为代表。本文通过分析这两类身份转型者的根本区别和各自产生的文化根源,表明福克纳对当时南方人的身份认同进行了有力干预和引导,对疗治资本主义工商文化弊病的根本途径也做了可贵的思考。
The Snopes Trilogy makes an artistic investigation into the identity transformation of Southern Americans of the Southern transitional period.It describes two kinds of people who undergo contrastive identity transformation,one with Flem Snopes and some other Snopeses as representatives,another with Ratliff and Wall as representatives.This thesis,through analysis of the fundamental differences between these two kinds of people and their respective cultural origins,shows that Faulkner actively interferes with and directs the identity choice of his contemporary Southerners,and that Faulkner does effective thinking about the basic way to cure the maladies of industrial and commercial culture of capitalism.
