Dialectical Wisdom in The Book of Rites

《礼记》是一本凝聚中国古人先哲辩证智慧的书籍,其辩证思想是通过对定礼之由的阐释和行礼之则的规定来表达的,比如行礼要根据时宜表达了矛盾的特殊性,礼不能逾节表达了适度原则,对于屡教不改之徒就流放他们并且永不续用,这反映了量变和质变的辩证关系等。但是《礼记》更加注重的是人伦日用而非形上研究,加之《礼记》内容驳杂而论证又缺乏逻辑性,其结果是《礼记》中虽有朦胧的辩证思想却难以形成系统的辩证法理论。

The Book of Rites is an embodiment of dialectical wisdom of the ancient Chinese sages, expressing the dialectical thought by interpreting the betrothal gifts and saluting the provisions. But The Book of Rites pays more attention to the daily human relations and its content is heterogeneous and in lack of logic, the result is that there is dim dialectical thought, but it is difficult to form the system of dialectics theory.
