In the retrieval of patent application in powder metallurgy field,English non patent search is essential.Based on the characteristics of the powder metallurgy field and ELSEVIER database,the means of obtaining documents using ELSEVIER database which having web publishing date was discussed,and the strategies of searching from Chinese database to ELSEVIER database including inventor tracking,reference documents tracking and invent points retrieval was also studied combined with the actual retrieval case. The combine of various databases can improve the searching efficiency greatly.
