音乐与禅,都是不可言说,需要体验和感悟。以不可言说之音乐去喻不可言说之禅,体现出禅师们对禅道与音乐都有很高的造诣,能使其"喻"巧妙,以揭示只可意会不可言宣的禅意。禅师们在以乐喻禅中,对佛陀的重要音乐言论,从不同的视角加以诠释,以揭示禅意之所在,体现出禅宗音乐审美观对传统佛教音乐美学思想的发展及其内涵的丰富性。以乐喻禅,明显的表现之一,是用乐论的一些观点,去解说禅学问题;突出的特色之一,是从音乐审美的视角,去揭示公案的禅意。

Both music and Zen are unspeakable,need to experience and make sense.Likening unspeakable music to the unspeakable Zen,reflecting Zen masters have high attainments to Zen and music,can use 'metaphor' flexibly,to reveal unspeakable Zen.In the process of likening music to Zen,Zen masters interpreted the important Buddhist rhetoric from different perspectives,to reveal the origin of Zen and reflect the richness of development and connotation of Zen music aesthetics to traditional Buddhist music aesthetic thought.One of the obvious performances in likening the music to Zen,is to interpret Zen issues with some views of music theory.One of the prominent features is to reveal the Zen from music aesthetic perspective.
