收入差距是否改善技术效率--基于省份面板数据的经验分析

Is Income Inequality Bene?cial for Technical Ef?ciency:an Empirical Analysis Based on the Provincial Penal Data in China

在省份面板数据的基础上,利用随机前沿生产函数讨论收入差距对于技术效率的影响,实证结果表明,我国收入差距的扩大对于效率改善具有一定的激励效应,但这种激励效应主要发生在经济改革的初始阶段,而在随后时期,尽管居民收入差距高速扩大,但激励效应则基本消退。因此,在我国当前收入差距高位徘徊的状态下,缩小收入差距将不会对经济系统的效率改进产生显著的消极影响。

By using the provincial panel data set in China,this paper discusses the relation between income inequality and technical ef? ciency through estimating the function of stochastic frontier production.The ? ndings indicate there was incentive effect of income inequality on technical efficiency,but such effect mainly existed in the initial stage of economic restructure,but vanished in the following period with income inequality expanded dramatically.The policy implication of the ? ndings shows light on the possibility that the income inequality might be reduced without loss of technical ef? ciency.
