在美国文学史上,代表不同政治、性别和种族立场的评论者对《汤姆叔叔的小屋》评价褒贬不一。本文分析《汤姆叔叔的小屋》诞生的19世纪后半叶、20世纪上半叶和20世纪中后期美国文学史对《汤姆叔叔的小屋》的评价,呈现该小说在美国文学史上的接受状况和经典化过程,论证女性主义阐释为推动《汤姆叔叔的小屋》的经典化所起的作用。同时,通过《汤姆叔叔的小屋》的经典化研究反观美国文学史研究风尚的变迁,凸显女性主义阐释对美国文学史观的影响。
In American literary history,critics of different political,gender and racial backgrounds treat Uncle Tom's Cabin differently. Their remarks vary from high praises to belittlement. This article studies the novel's process of canonization by analyzing the comments on Uncle Tom's Cabin from different historical periods. The article argues that feminist criticism propels the novel's canonization. In addition,the article also explores the evolving views of American literary history by studying the reception of Uncle Tom's Cabin in order to highlight the impact of feminist criticism on the perspective of American literary history.
