直隶高等工业学堂始末

The Whole Story of Chihli Industrial College

1902年,直隶天津府获准创建"工艺学堂",转年升级为省办"高等工业学堂",确定以培养"工艺上之人才",毕业后"能任教习、工师之职,以发明工业"为宗旨。学堂办学以日本大学为模式,聘用多名日本人为总教习和教习,并派学生赴日本留学,是直隶继北洋大学堂建立后的第二所高等学堂,开风气之先。经历国家政局更替和行政区域划分变动,现以跻身国家高校"211工程"建设行列的河北工业大学存世。

In 1902, the Tianjin government created ＂Zhili Technology School＂, and in the following year it was upgraded to provincial higher industrial school, with the purpose to cultivate the ＂technical talent＂ with the ability to be teachers, technicians in fields of industry＂ after graduation. Taking Japanese school as the model, the school employed Japanese people to be responsible for teaching, and sent some Chinese students to study in Japan. It was the second high school following Beiyang School. After the change of state government and the division of administrative region, it is Hebei University of Technology which ranks among the national ＂211 Project＂ construction.
