The Historical Evolution of Modernity and Lu Xun's Image

鲁迅是一名战士。他生前与中国现代史紧密地相连,逝后仍以特殊方式参与中国的思想史和政治史。鲁迅形象的变迁,是现代性历史演进的一个折射,包含着极为丰富的内容,是透视中国20世纪历史的一个重要窗口。五四时期鲁迅的文学活动及其影响,体现了启蒙现代性的原则。启蒙现代性的局限,使鲁迅在历史地提供了达成启蒙现代性理想的一个契机时,促进了他的思想质变。他这时的思考和左翼批评家对他的理解,体现了与启蒙现代性有联系然而也有重大差异的革命现代性的要求。

Lu Xun was a soldier,intimately linked with modern Chinese history. Even after his death,Lu Xun continues to participate in the ideological and political narrative of contemporary China. The dynamic nature of Lu Xun's image is a reflection of the evolution of modern history; encompassing extremely rich content is an important window from which to observe China in the 20 th century. Lu Xun's literary activities and influence throughout the May 4th movement are a microcosm of the modern enlightenment era. Yet the inherent restriction of modern enlightenment was what pushed Lu Xun to alter its ideology,resulting in the deterioration of his thoughts. His thinking as well as the criticism received from the left,in conjunction with the modernity of enlightenment,embodies the notion of revolutionary modernity,whilst also acknowledging the deep divide present within its requirement. With Chinese society entering into a new age,its people learning lessons from history and the simultaneous distortion of revolutionary modernity by the extreme left,revolutionary modernity and enlightenment modernity were unified under a new set of historical conditions,and thus gave rise to a new perspective on modernity. The contemporary research of Lu Xun is therefore an endeavor in the emancipation of ideology.
