民国时期沪江大学英文系办学思想分析

On the Educational Thoughts Advocated by the English Department of Univeristy of Shanghai During the Period of the Republic of China

The English Department of Univeristy of Shanghai has cultivated many famous scholars in the fields of Sino-West relationshiop,literature research and English language teaching. During the history of twenty three years, the English department of Univeristy of Shanghai formed its characteristics as follows： establishing a well-balanced currriculum of English literature and practical English to meet the diversified demands of society,recruiting qualified native English teachers to garanteed teaching quality,and encouraging students to participate in various extracurricular English activities to improve students＇ communicative skills. Therefore,the history of the English department of University of Shanghai is traced to reveal its significance in the history of education and to offer useful implications for present English teaching in Higher education.
