Three Devices of Teaching in thinking, experiencing and expressing provide guidance in cultivating students＇ core competency during subject matter instruction. Ms. Wu Zhengxian has attached great importance to students＇ mathematical thinking and expression, mathematical studying experience and effectiveness as well as students＇ mathematical representation in her years＇ exploration of developing children＇s mathematical core competency. Her example lesson of Representing Numbers with Letters vividly reflects the pursuit and characteristics of mathematical instruction under the idea of three devices of teaching.
