语料库视域下的插入式引语研究——以《哈利·波特与凤凰社》中乌姆里奇教授为例

A Study of Suspended Quotations from a Corpus Perspective——Taking Professor Umbridge in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix as an Example

以罗琳的《哈利·波特与凤凰社》小说为蓝本,自建语料库,采用语料库软件检索及手动筛选相结合的方式,对作品中的人物乌姆里奇教授进行了分析。共检索出该人物94处话语中的"插入式引语"。经统计分析,"插入式引语"的句子模式以-ing分词小句和介词短语居多,体现人物话语与肢体语言的共时性。对"插入式引语"进行分类发现,乌姆里奇教授说话时伴随的各种声音、笑容、手指动作等,充分展示了两面、专横、刻板、恶毒的女教授形象,同时也表达出了罗琳对人物反感的态度。研究证实,"插入式引语"为作品中的人物提供了丰富的信息,不仅能够从人物说话时反复伴随的肢体语言分析出人物的性格特点,还能够通过作者对人物话语的干预,表达对人物的态度,为语料库文体学提供了一个更加客观、新颖的视角。

Based on self-made corpus,the paper analyzes the characteristics of Professor Umbridge,a character from Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix written by J.K Rowling.It is found that there are 94 suspended quotations about her.-ing clauses and prepositional phrases account for the most frequently used sentence patterns,which shows the synchronicity between the speech and the body language.The further classification of the suspended quotations into,such typical actions as voices,smiles and fingers demonstrates her as a two-faced,imperious,rigid and vicious female villain and the writer＇s negative attitudes towards her.The study supports the view that suspended quotations are of great use in providing abundant character information,which can not only analyze the character from the repeated body language accompanying with the speech,but also express the writer＇s attitude towards the character by an interruption of a character＇s words by the narrator.They suggest a more objective and original perspective for corpus stylistics.
