The development course of a novel solid propellant which can be repeatedly started--the electrically controlled extinguishable solid propellant (ECESP) is introduced in detail, and its working mechanism is comprehensively reviewed. In addition, its applications in the new concept weapons and aerospace propulsion are discussed. The research direction and research emphasis of ECESP are pointed out.
