The Datong thought was a social ideal in the original period of the Chinese culture, that its criticism and transcendence made it the vitality of history. Therefore, it coincided with Utopia, and became the national cul- tural resources of the Chinese people who accepted the socialism. In the collision of Chinese and Western civiliza- tion in modern times, the thought of Datong evolved into the ideal of Kang Youwei＇s world harmony, and became the ideological premise of the Chinese people who accepted Marxism.
