On the Functions of Buluotuo Belief in the Formation of the Zhuangs

壮族的形成是一个历史的过程,由多种因素共同促成。在众多的因素中,长期流传于壮族地区的布洛陀传说和信仰无疑占有重要的地位,它是壮族及其先民重要的历史记忆,构成了壮族的"根基历史"。随着对布洛陀认同的增强,尤其是布洛陀信仰在土司时代被土官等当地精英利用,民族的凝聚力得以不断增强,最终在其他因素的共同作用下,壮族得以正式形成。

The formation of the Zhuangs is a historical process caused by a variety of factors jointly.Among the many factors,Buluotuo legend and belief which spread long in the Zhuang regions undoubtedly occupy an important position.The belief,which forms the Zhuangs＇ ＂basis history＂,is the historical memories of the ethnic and their ancestors.With the enhancement of Buluotuo identity,especially with the use of Buluotuo belief by local governors in Tusi（system of appointing national minority hereditary headmen）Era,the ethnic cohesion continued to enhance,and ultimately under the influence of other factors,the Zhuangs formed officially.
