A Study on the Tangut Gold and Silver Utensils

西夏金银器分为实用器、饰品等多种类型,主要用于标明身份、彰显地位、朝贡交聘、赏赐军功。造型简洁、纹饰朴拙的西夏金银器虽在制作工艺方面与同时代的宋、辽有相似之处,却也形成了自己的独特风格。

The Tangut gold and silver utensils divided into practical devices, jewelry and other types, was mainly used to identify the identity, highlight status, pay tribute and reward military service. With the simple modeling and decoration, Tangut gold and silver ornaments which had some similarities with the contemporary Song and Liao formed its own unique style.
