The requirements of IACS Rev. 1 of UI SC246 on steering test and its result extrapolation were introduced in the paper. Based on the results of two steering tests of a bulk carrier, the factors affecting the steering test results and the limitation of the extrapolation means in SC246 were discussed as well.
