海伦·柏克赫斯特(Helen Parkhurst)是20世纪美国著名的教育家,创始了道尔顿制(The Dalton Plan)。1925年夏,柏克赫斯特应中华教育改进社之请来华讲授道尔顿制、与中国教育界人士交流教育问题,这是近代中美教育交流中极为重要的一笔。本文主要考察柏克赫斯特此次来华的始末及她在各地的演讲、交流活动,分析其访华产生的反响,旨在对柏克赫斯特的访华作一较为全面的探讨。

Helen Parkhurst is one of the greatest American educationists in the 20 th century,and she is the initiator of the Dalton Plan.In the summer of 1925,Parkhurst visited China for lecturing the Dalton Plan and communicating educational problems with Chinese educators at the invitation of Chinese National Association for the Advancement of Education,which is quite important in the process of Sino-American educational communication.This paper mainly focuses on investigating the whole story of Parkhurst＇s Chinese journey,her lectures and seminars on the Dalton Plan in China.Simultaneously,this paper analyses the repercussion of her journey aiming to explore it comprehensively.
