摘要
相较大陆通识教育进程,台湾高校通识教育进程较为顺遂,现已完成普及并进入深化阶段。就此归因,显然与20世纪50年代,台湾以"复校"大学为主体的大学制度构建,较好传承了原民国大学重通才教育之传统密切相关。分析台湾"复校"大学在重建之初,于通才教育方面的教学制度安排、课程设置、保障机制等元素,可清晰观察到"复校"大学对原大陆母校教育传统之坚守和持续推进的过程。从大学遗传环境论的角度出发,至少可收获三点启示:尊重传统并保持教育核心价值的基本稳定;尊重大学自主办学;大学校长应具教育家的品质。
General education curriculum has long been recognized as a critical component of Taiwan higher education,ever since the reestablishment of China's major universities in Taiwan in 1950 s,when Kuomingtang( KMT) forces retreated from China mainland to Taiwan following the establishment of the People's Republic of China( PRC) on 1 October 1949. To carrying on the tradition of those universities in the mainland,so-called 'reestablished'universities in Taiwan adopted the same general education curriculum( including the same course design,instructional arrangements and administrative regulations) as their original counterparts used to have. The lesson we can learn from the development of general education in Taiwan is three-fold:( 1) respect the tradition and carry on our core values;( 2)safeguard the autonomy of the university;( 3) the university president,preferably,should be a great thinker on education.
