Emotional intelligence is the ability of knowing and understanding others＇ and one ＇ s emotional state, and using this information to adjust the behaviour and solving problems. The application of the theory of emotional intelligence to English teaching in middle schools, is of importance in the growth of middle school students and English teaching. On the basis of clarifying the meaning and importance of emotional intelligence, the paper discusses the problems in remote middle school English teaching and expounds the enlightenment of the theory of emotional intelligence to the English teaching.
