A Whole Recognition of the Picture Inscriptions and Stamps in the Chen's A Version of A Dream in Red Mansions

程甲本《红楼梦》卷首二十四幅绣像各附图赞一首,体裁多样,书法各具特色,其上印章风格迥异,且文、书、印浑然一体,令人赏心悦目。但因图赞书法多异体字和变体字,部分为草书体或篆书体,印文更多篆书变体,不易识别,今人引用时常出现讹误。今试对二十四幅绣像图赞的全部诗文、印文予以辨识,并尝试注解部分诗文和印文用典,以期为研究者提供参考。

There are 24 figure pictures with inscriptions at the beginning volume of the Chen＇ s A version of A Dream in Red Mansions. They are in different types, with calligraphy and stamps in different features and styles. And the texts, calligraphies and stamps are integrated harmoniously, giving people a delectable fantasy. However, due to many different fonts and distorted forms of the characters used in these descriptions and stamps, these texts are very difficult to be recognized, and many mistakes have happened when people citing them. This paper tries to give a whole interpretation and explanation to all the texts in the descriptions and stamps in all the 24 pictures, with some notes and commentaries of their historical background, in order to provide reverence for researchers.
