Interpersonal Relationship of Li Shutong Before and After Going to Japan

通过考证李叔同与李鸿章、盛宣怀、严修、吴汝纶以及多位日本汉学家的关系,分析李叔同创办春柳社的真正动机以及他当时的精神世界。南洋公学、南开系列学校以及京师大学堂堪称近代中国的"三大新学"。而这三大新学的创始人都和李叔同有着密切的关系。李叔同在他们的影响和推动之下东渡日本,他带着誓要一扫"千年旧学"之"尘埃"的激情,展开了"新学"的探索。而组建春柳社,也正是他探索新学的一个过程。

Through the research of the relationship between Li Shutong and Li Hongzhang, Sheng Xuanhuai, Yan Xiu, Wu Ruguan and a number of Japanese sinologists, the present paper analyzes the real motivation of Li Shutong’s founding of the Chunliushe and his spiritual world of that time. Nanyang Public School, Nankai series of schools and the Imperial University of Peking deserve to be called“the three schools of modern style” in con-temporary China. Li Shutong has a close relationship with the founders of the three schools, under whose influ-ence and promotion Li Shutong went to Japan. With passion, he vowed to sweep away the old and outdated edu-cation, and launched a simplified Chinese exploration. The formation of the Chunliushe is a process during which he probed into simplified Chinese language.
