A Brief Discussion of Zhao Xi's Ci

近代词坛著名词人赵熙及其《香宋词》三卷,在当时名重一时,有着极高的声誉。赵熙词在内容开拓与艺术形式上有较为突出的贡献。其词数量虽少但内容丰富,举凡时事、纪事、咏物、写景、咏怀、酬答、唱和等,无不在词中展现,在题材类型上推陈出新,扩大了词的表现形式。在艺术特征上,赵熙善于向前人学习,广泛吸收宋词的优长,但在宗法上又不束缚于某家某派。转益多师为我所用,蔚然成为一代川西词宗,体现出了赵熙词作的创新精神。

Famous Ci poet Zhao Xi in modern times, with his three volumes of Ci by Zhao Xiangsong, enjoyed a high reputation in his era. Zhao Xi＇s Ci has great contribution in terms of content development and artistic form. Although small in number, Zhao Xi＇s Ci has rich content, with colorful themes like current affairs, recording events, singing the praise of some- thing, describing the scenery, describing one＇s emotion, and responding to a poem, etc. All these themes are expressed in words and brought forth the new in types of topics and hereby extend the patterns of manifestation. In terms of artistic characteristics, Zhao Xi was good at learning from his predecessors to absorb the advantages of Song Ci but not bound to certain schools. Zhao Xi become a Ci master in western Sichuan by learning from different schools, manifesting the creative spirit of his Ci. Pioneering spirit in Zhao Xi＇s Ci shows in absorbing essence from many schools to become a Ci master in Western Sichuan.
