“40-Love”:多模态认知诗学视角

"40-Love":A Multimodal Cognitive Poetic Analysis

多模态认知诗学是对诸如视觉诗、图文小说等多模态文学语篇的认知诗学研究。通过对视觉诗"40-Love"从视觉模态、听觉模态和言语模态三方面进行认知解读,本文分析了多模态隐喻——"婚姻是场网球赛和中年夫妻关系是场临界点比分的网球赛"——的动态构建过程,并用概念隐喻理论及概念整合理论对其进行了详细阐释。这不但为基于纯语言模态隐喻研究提出的理论提供了支持,也说明多模态文学语篇能使读者将视觉、听觉、言语模态与语篇的主旨相联系,并在各个单模态及整合模态与语篇主旨之间建立隐喻映射关系。

Multimodal Cognitive Poetics emphasizes the cognitive poetic analysis of multimodal texts, such as visual poems and graphic novels. The paper makes a cognitive poetic analysis of ＂40-Love＂ from the three aspects of visual modality, auditory modality and verbal modality, which generates two conceptual metaphors： MARRIAGE IS A TENNIS MATCH, and THE RE- LATIONSHIP BETWEEN MIDDLE-AGED COUPLE IS A TENNIS MATCH AT CRITICAL POINT. In addition, the paper ex- plains the two metaphors with Conceptual Metaphor Theory and Conceptual Blending Theory. As a whole, the paper not only provides supportive evidence for the metaphor theories based on pure linguistic metaphors, but also indicates that multimodal literature texts can make a link between the reader＇s different modalities and the theme of the text, and establish metaphorical mappings between the single modality and the text theme and between the blending modality and the text theme.
