摘要
面临通识英语教育(ELE)与专门用途英语教育(ESP)之争,以英美文学为代表的大学英语人文类通识课程设置逐渐暴露出了诸多问题,很大程度上没能实现通识教育的培养目标。低年级基础英语教学应承担起相应的跨文化交际培养任务;高年级大学英语开设具有深度的文学文化选修课程,才能有效完成通识教育与专门用途英语教育双重培养目标。
In the debate between English Liberal Education (ELE) and English for Special Purpose (ESP), many problems are exposed in humanities courses such as British and American Literature, so to some extent, the ELE objectives cannot be realized. This paper proposes that the fundamental English education should undertake the obligation of training students'crosscultural abilities while the senior college English teaching (CET) should offer some profound optional courses on literature and culture so that the teaching objectives of both ELE and ESP can be fulfilled.
