With the cross-cultural exchange emerging as the keyword of the age, Chinese scholars need to uphold their own cultural tradition and maximize its impact on the global values and institutional arrangements through the highlight of cultural accumulation. In order to avoid being edged to the "other", they will have more input to the construction of knowledge community which is based on the constructive interaction among its members, consistent with the contemporary epistemological righteousness, and leading up to effective consensus. The community is generally built up by three parts: the combing and reconstruction of local culture, cross-cultural dialogue and exchange, and cross-age interaction. Its urgency comes from the revolutionary change of knowledge occurrence and dissemination, with the premise that the participants must have the crisis sense and introspection of the current knowledge production, and in particular, avoid the tendency of cultural centralism or cultural- following, back to the Chinese context. Thus the different cultures of the East and the West will have an opportunity to provide their respective experience to the community in the acceptance of "other" and the maximization of "self". And concurrently their own cultures will be maintained with the academic flourish.
