"盟"在先秦时期是一项重要的政治外交活动,它是霸主称霸的象征,是诸侯间相互妥协的产物。盟在其起源、形成、发展、衰落中对当时的社会也产生了巨大的影响。暂时止戈,共同应对自然灾害,协调利用水利,文化交往,经济交流等等这些都是"盟"带来的巨大好处。同时也应注意到,大国诸侯为争当盟主而发动的战争,既盟之后针对弱小国家的奴役,加重贫苦百姓负担等等,都是"盟"带来的负面效应。
