梅州地名命名理据探析

A Study on the Origins of Geographical Names in the Meizhou Region

梅州地处闽粤赣交界处,是客家人聚居的中心地,有"世界客都"之称。梅州市所辖梅江区、梅县区、兴宁市、五华县、大埔县、丰顺县、平远县和蕉岭县,其中丰顺县为客闽双方言区,其他县市区则为纯客方言区。文章分成两大部分:一、梅州地名的命名理据分析;二、梅州地名命名蕴含的文化内涵。根据《梅州地名志》收集的2 682个具有代表性的各类地名,运用训诂学的理论和方法,对其作了全面的研究,尤其是对地名的命名理据作了细致分析和考证。

Meizhou is located at the junction of Fujian,Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. It is the center of the minority of the Hakka people and famous as the ‘world’s Hakka center’. The city of Meizhou covers Meijiang and Meixian district,the city Xingning,as well as the counties Wuhua,Dapu,Fengshun,Pingyuan and Jiaoling.These are pure Hakka dialect regions,apart from Fengshun county,which is a Hakka and Min double- dialect region. The study is divided into two sections： the first part examines the origin and formation of the toponyms and the second part explores the inherent cultural influences on the geographical names. In this paper,2682 representative spatial data are extracted from Meizhou gazetteer and analysed in detail.
