Thickness of the City Ruminations and Practices of the Renovation of Historic Space

以"南沙原创"这几年关于城市更新的思考、研究和设计探索出发,阐述了时间与城市、与建筑、与当代生活空间的关系和意义;以时间作为命题,从爱因斯坦到卡尔维诺、博尔赫斯,从OMA的PRADA基金会设计解读到南沙原创自身在广东的2个改造项目的设计和方法论,尝试建立一个与时间有关的历史建筑改造的设计观;从价值观、方法论和空间手法等方面探讨城市更新的未来和建筑实践。

This paper elucidates on the connections and meanings between time and the city, architecture, and contemporary living space, arising from NODE＇s ruminations, studies and practices relating to urban renewal in the recent years. Hinging on temporality, it ventures at a design concept involving time for historic renovation as interpreted from Albert Einstein to Italo Calvino and Jorge Luis Borges, and from PRADA Foundation of OMA to the two renovation projects produced by NODE, to explore the prospective development and architectural practice of urban renewal in regards to value, methodology and spatial treatment.
