摘要
海外中国现当代文学史研究与写作已走过半个多世纪。顾彬关于1949年后中国文学(即当代文学)的叙述,一方面难于走出海外20世纪中国文学研究界普遍存在的通过中国文学来研究中国问题的政治社会学思维怪圈,另一方面,他对当代文学"经典"的认证及其所作的"习惯性标准"(语言驾驭力、形象塑造力和个体精神的穿透力)与现代政治学意义的诠释,又对我们考察海外中国当代文学史写作具有启发意义。《二十世纪中国文学史·1949年后的中国文学》是一部"问题文学史"。这个"问题",既是指其文学史自身存在的问题,同时也是指作为一种言说方式的文学史叙述模式。
Research into and writing of modern and contemporary Chinese literature overseas has been going on for over half a century. On one hand, Kuhin's account of Chinese literature (the contemporary part of it)after 1949 can never somehow move out of the prevailing weird circle in which Chinese literature is studied as part of political sociology, and, on the other, his attestation of contemporary literary ' classics', his creation of' habitual standards' (the driving force of language, the power of creating images and the penetration of individual spirit)and his interpretation of the meaning of modern political science are an enlightenment to us in examining the writing of contemporary Chinese literature overseas. A History of Chinese Litera- ture in the 20th Century: Chinese Literature after 1949 is a'problem literary history'. This'problem'not only refers to a literary history' s own problems but also to a narrative mode of literary history as a way of speaking.
