从当前出版物中外国人名翻译的乱象出发,阐述了翻译的不规范带来的弊端:影响文化交流的通畅性,影响中文科技文献查新检索的准确性.重点论述了科技书刊中外国人名的翻译规则.在科技书刊中,外国人名的使用分为行文中的使用和参考文献中的使用2种.这2种使用的规范是不一样的.提出了编辑在加工过程中正确使用外国人名的策略:熟练掌握各国人名构成的特点,对所有外国人名和外文参考文献需要重新检索,查找原文,并利用工具书进行核对.倡议国家有关部门尽快制定外国人名翻译的标准,以供人们正确使用.

From the chaos of translation of foreign names in the current publications,it is expounded that the non-standard of translation will affect the smoothness of cultural exchanges and affect the accuracy of Chinese scientific literature search.This paper focuses on the translation of foreign names in sci-tech periodicals and books.In sci-tech journals and books,the use of foreign names is divided into the use of the text and references.The normative use of the two is not the same.The author puts forward the strategy of correct use of foreign names in the process of editing：mastering the characteristics of the names of all countries,re-searching all the foreign names and foreign references,and checking the originals with the reference books.It is proposed for the relevant departments of the national to draw up standards of translation of foreign names as soon as possible.
