The Value of Political Morality for National Governance——Reflection Based on Machiavellianism

The thesis introduces Machiavelli and historical background of his book, The Prince. It analyzes Machiavelli＇s view of political morality through historical materialism. Based on the particularity of his time, Machiavelli＇s view of political morality emphasizes that morality should be forced to serve politics, and Machiavelli hopes that kingship and violence can clear the obstacles for Italy＇s prosperity. The thesis inspects ＂politics-morality＂ ought-to-be relation dialectically, and it believes that the revelation of Machiavelli＇s political ethics is that politics should be a combination of rule of law and rule of virtue and that insisting on strategy of ruling the country by law and strengthening the construction of political morality is essential condition for promoting national governance modernization.
