Discussion on academic thoughts of Wen Rixin concerning ophthalmology

本文对湖南眼科三大名老中医之一的文日新老中医眼科学术思想进行了探讨,其主要内容包括治疗外邪侵袭所致的眼疾,主张用辛温发散法、攻下法、祛风胜湿法、渗利湿浊法等祛邪务尽,免闭门留寇之虞;认为眼病不离千层表,治疗上多采用疏散、升发调气等法,或为祛邪之用;治眼病用药注重脾胃的枢机作用,常用健脾补气、健脾益血、健脾养心、健脾补肾、健脾疏肝、健脾渗湿、健脾化痰、健脾生津、健脾清火等法;注重辨证论治,善用验方。

Academic thoughts on ophthalmology of Wen Rixin, one of the three famous veteran TCM physicians in Hunan, was discussed in this paper. The content included the method of relieving exterior syndrome with pungent and warm drugs, purgation, expelling wind-evil and removing dampness, and excreting dampness to remove exogenous pathogens. He thought that eye diseases were closed to exterior syndromes, and treatments were mostly the methods of dispelling, ascending, dredging and regulating the qi flow in the channels etc. He paid attention to spleen and kidney which was core role to cure eye diseases so he used methods of tonifying spleen and invigo-rating qi, boosting blood and nourishing the heart, invigorating kidney, soothing liver,tonifying spleen, excreting dampness, eliminating phlegm, engendering fluid and clearing fire etc. Also he focused on treatment according to syndrome differentiation and was good at using proved recipes.
