As two important guiding documents for educators, curriculum standards and the examination syllabus have close ties but assume very different roles. Curriculum standards are the specifications and requirements of the curriculum, guiding the instruction of the subject during the whole academic year. The examination syllabus, however, provides guidance for test item development and students＇ test preparation. Clarifying the relationship between curriculum standards and the examination syllabus and having a profound understanding of their essential roles are of great importance in terms of deepening the College Entrance Examination reform and the curriculum reform, fully implementing the party＇ s education policy and providing satisfactory education to the people.
