On Chen Yun's Thought about the Construction of Secret Party

陈云同志曾任中共中央特科负责人,全面主持秘密党工作,在抗日战争时期也有关于秘密党建设的大量论述。陈云认为,大后方的党的组织是中国共产党的重要的一部分。如果没有这一部分,则中国革命的发展和胜利是不可能的。对于秘密党建设来说,党员的质量重于数量更为重要,组织形式要短小精干,但党外活动却必须扩大公开工作是秘密党活动的主要形式,党外活动愈扩大,党的隐蔽愈有效。

Comrade Chen Yun served as the head of CPC Central special department, and fully presided over the work of the secret party. During the Anti-Japanese War, he had a great deal of discussion about the construction of secret party. In his opinion, the party organization in the great rear area is an important part of the Chinese Communist Party. If there is no such part, then the development and victory of the Chinese revolution is impossible. For the construction of Secret Party, the quality of Party members is more important than the quantity, and the form of organization should be pared-down. For the activities outside the Party, openness should become the main form, this could cover the party effectively.
